Is there a 75 Hard version for women?

No. 75 Hard has one set of rules for everyone, and there is no official women's version. When women search for an alternative, they usually want rest days, a less extreme water rule, less pressure around daily progress photos, or a plan that fits around caregiving. 75 Soft and 75 Medium cover most of those needs.

Any of the challenges on this page work for anyone. We grouped them by the concerns that come up most often in these searches, without assuming what every woman wants.

Which 75 Hard alternative has rest days?

75 Soft builds in one active-recovery day per week, according to Cleveland Clinic's summary of the common rules. Many 75 Medium versions are flexible about workout type, so you can schedule easier days. A custom challenge lets you set workouts on specific days, such as four strength sessions and three walks.

For context, the US guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week plus muscle strengthening on two days (CDC). Even 75 Soft is well above that baseline.

What if progress photos feel bad for you?

Make them optional or less frequent. Daily photos are a 75 Hard rule, but the common 75 Soft version does not include them, and Cleveland Clinic's 75 Medium article suggests tracking how you feel, for example with journaling, if body image is a concern. Strength numbers, energy and sleep are progress too.

In our tracker, replace "progress photo" with "journal one line" or "log one strength number". Swap it before day 1, not mid-challenge.

Can you do 75 Hard while pregnant?

Talk to your doctor first. The publisher's own FAQ says to consult your doctor, and notes that you would need to stop for recovery after giving birth and then restart. Two daily workouts and a strict diet may not suit pregnancy, so a doctor-approved gentle routine is the safer path.

Which alternative fits a busy parent?

A short custom challenge or 75 Soft usually fits best, because one workout a day can be split with family time: a walk with a stroller, a home workout during nap time, reading ten pages at bedtime. The publisher's FAQ suggests simple outdoor options such as a brisk walk or outdoor yoga.

A practical set for a busy month: one 30-to-45-minute workout, a water target you set with your doctor's input, ten pages, and planning tomorrow's top three tasks tonight.

Which alternatives do women commonly pick?

Option Why people choose it Watch out for
75 Soft Weekly recovery day, no restart, 3 L water Slips are easy to ignore, so track honestly
75 Medium Adds meditation; flexible workouts No single rulebook, so fix your version first
66-day habit challenge Focus on one to three habits Less structure than a full challenge
Strength-focused custom plan Matches guideline muscle-strengthening days Needs a sensible program
Couch to 5K Gentle running build-up, rest days built in Fitness only

Frequently asked questions

Is 75 Soft better for women than 75 Hard?

Not inherently. 75 Soft is better for anyone, of any gender, who needs rest days, has limited time or found 75 Hard's restart rule counterproductive. Some women prefer 75 Hard's strictness. Choose by schedule, health and goals, not by gender.

Is a gallon of water too much?

It depends on the person. The publisher says to follow your physician's advice if you have been told not to drink that much. 75 Soft uses three liters instead. If you have a kidney, heart or other medical condition, ask your doctor what is right for you.

Can you do a challenge with friends?

Yes, and it often helps. Pick the same version, agree on what counts, and check in daily. See our guide to doing a 75-day challenge with friends for set-up ideas, including free options.
